Since 1994, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) has provided crucial protections to survivors of sexual and domestic violence. It’s time once again to reauthorize VAWA to expand protections for survivors.
It’s been almost 50 days since the House passed a bipartisan Violence Against Women Act! Now, it's time for the Senate to take action and pass this enhanced bill to protect survivors' rights. A reauthorization bill will increase funding for campuses, expand trauma-informed training for advocates, and include protections for transgender and gender non-conforming survivors.
Nearly one in four transgender, genderqueer, or gender non-conforming students experience sexual violence during their four years of undergraduate education. Reauthorizing VAWA is one action that supports survivors’ voices and provides a pathway to justice and healing.
Supporting survivors of sexual violence should be a national priority. Sign this petition demanding Congress reauthorize VAWA today!
